The real-time search engine recently launched by search engine giant Google is expected to greatly improve the results of search engine optimization (SEO) campaigns and make a big impact on the social media marketing business, recent industry forecasts show.
The new program could change the playing field of social media marketing and increase the efficiency of both big and small online companies, according to Robert Proctor from San Francisco-based Web software firm Reality Digital.
Proctor added that it will force brands to bank on their social media marketing efforts, as they have more to gain than ever from joining the trend. For instance, they can get more consumer engagement and drive more traffic to their websites.
The real-time search will allow users to view live updates from social media networks such as Twitter and Facebook. They can also view headlines from blogs and news websites just seconds after they are published, according to Google fellow Amit Singhal.
The new feature lets users get first dibs on breaking news as they happen, even when it’s not the biggest news of the day and even on events they didn’t know about in advance, Singhal added in a blog post discussing the program.
The real-time search works by continually updating alongside content sources around the web. This means that companies who have previous links with one social media network can now directly affect their search results on the other, according to Proctor.
The addition of more social media content to search engine results can also improve the reach of user-generated content and social media marketing materials, which in turn makes online conversations more efficient, Reality Digital officials added.
